ABOUT THE DIRECTORY AND LISTEES

This Directory contains a list of psychologists who in accordance with their education and training provide a variety of diagnostic, therapeutic and consultative health services. Please refer to the Billing Manuals of provincial psychological associations for a complete list of health services provided by psychologists. Some of these associations can also provide a recommended Fee schedule.

The psychologists listed in this Directory are those who had been confirmed and had sent their listing fee before January 31. The online Directory is updated periodically through the year with corrections and new listings.

In Canada, the profession of psychology is regulated by provincial/territorial law. Currently, only one jurisdiction in Canada, the Yukon Territories, does not have a statute regulating psychology. All other provinces and territories have a law regulating the profession of Psychology. Any complaint about a psychologist should be addressed to the regulatory body in the jurisdiction where that psychologist practices. The name and address of the regulatory bodies are provided elsewhere on this website. (Link to Member Organizations)

A primary purpose of the Directory is to enable ready identification of health service psychologists in the jurisdictions in which they are registered/certified /licenced. Users will note that the first basic criterion used to decide on qualification for listing in the Register is provincial/territorial/or state registration/certification/licensing. All psychologists listed here, are therefore certified, registered or licensed in the province/territory/state where they provide psychological health services, except as noted above, in the case of the Yukon. It is very important for any user to understand that when a psychologist's name appears in a given section/jurisdiction, this fact does not grant him/her the legal right to provide Psychological health services in another jurisdiction where he/she is not certified/registered.

Users should note that any name appearing without an address means that this particular psychologist did not produce an address for provision of psychological services.

By publication of this Directory, the Register does not make any representations other than the fact that the listed psychologists have, as of the date of publication, complied with the listing criteria then in effect according to information supplied to the Register by various sources.

The Register does not make any representation as to the competence or stated sub-specialties of a listed psychologist nor does the Register warrant or represent that the listed psychologists are in good standing with their respective provincial licensing body other than at the date of publication. Currently, there are no "de jure" specialty designations in Canada. Codes of ethics and professional conduct adopted by psychological organizations direct psychologists to practice only in areas for which they have been adequately trained.

Consequently, users of the Directory agree that the Register will not, unless specifically agreed to in writing, be liable for any general, special, consequential or other damages for any reason whatever, save and except for negligence of the Register, its employees and officers in the compilation of the Directory, and then only to the extent of the cost of the Directory.

Any comments/or questions about matters related to the Register should be addressed to:
