STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Register has been organized as a non-profit corporation for the purpose of identifying health service providers in psychology meeting educational and training standards set by the Register consistent with standards of practice acceptable to the profession and also for the purpose of promoting professional standards by encouraging continuing education and research.

OUR OBJECTIVES

1. To identify health service providers in psychology who meet certain educational and training standards set by Council.

2. To publish a register of health service psychologists to assist health service organizations, third party payers, the general public and such other persons or groups as may be appropriate.

3. From time to time to conduct research on issues related to the delivery of health services by psychologists.

4. To encourage and promote programs of continuing education in the areas of psychological health services.

5. To maintain close relationships with the Council of Provincial Associations of Psychologists, the Canadian Psychological Association, the provincial or territorial psychological associations and regulatory organizations, and appropriate international psychological organizations, and to support the goals and objects of such bodies and organizations.

6. To promote and protect the public's access to qualified health service providers in psychology.
