Psychologists in Primary Care Listserve
Primary care is one of the newer clinical settings in which psychological service providers are working. Psychologists are increasingly collaborating with family physicians and other health professionals, in family health teams, community health centres, and other primary care settings, to improve the health of Canadians. It provides us with opportunities to utilize and expand our skills in consultation, service provision, and applied research. We can use our clinical and health psychology expertise to improve mental and physical health in a venue that is outside traditional mental health services.
Psychology practitioners are busy developing practice models to embed themselves most effectively in primary care settings. CRHSP has decided to sponsor a listserve, which will allow psychological service providers to share information and resources pertaining to primary care in an efficient and collaborative manner.
The purpose of the listserve is to share information about:
- Professional and ethical issues pertaining to psychological services in primary care
- Resources, tools, and clinical material used by psychologists in primary care
- Employment, education, and training opportunities
This initiative was originally proposed by Registrant, Dr Anne Vagi on behalf of several colleagues. Dr. Vagi will be joined by Dr Jean Grenier as the Moderators of the Primary Care Listserve. As Moderators, they will ascertain that the themes being discussed are relevant to psychologists in primary care, and that basic ethical principles and Listserve etiquette are respected.
